WE REMAIN PREPARED
by Melissa Brown in collaboration with the Satori Group and ARTBARN
What's it about? A new work inspired by an old space. A site specific performance inside the Georgetown Steam Plant.
Know more: The project is the culmination of a year long collaboration between Seattle’s critically acclaimed Satori Group and ARTBARN, a collective of innovative artists from across discipline and around the country who generate original site-specific work through a residency model. Drawing from the best of both companies’ resources and processes, they're are creating a piece of a scale neither group would be able to attempt on its own.
Why we’re excited: We’ve gotten to be in the room for a few of the workshops and so we might be a little bit biased but this is going to be like nothing you’ve ever been to before. The steam plant is such a great location and the collaboration between these two companies is pretty much a guarantee of a good time.
Who you might recognize? Both the Satori Group and performer Charles Leggett have been nominated for The Stranger Genius Awards. Cast also includes: Brandon Simmons, Liza Curtiss, Carol Thompson, & Amber Wolfe.
Fun Fact: Lillian Gilbreth, the mother in Cheaper by the Dozen, designed the plant with her husband, Frank. She invented the step-to-open trashcan and the kitchen island.
How long is it? Under 2 hours
